On Friday 22nd October, William's girlfriend Zeta Price and Michael Perry, a fellow comrade who fought alongside Will in Afghanistan, will be setting off on their journey and embarking on an incredible challenge to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.
This will be the penultimate event for the Kilimanjaro 2010 Appeal in memory of Rifleman William Aldridge, completing the year long diary of challenges and events to raise funds for the RCDM MoD Patient Welfare Fund and the Riflemans Fund.
This is not a challenge to be taken lightly, as they are attempting the most difficult 'Machame' route. This beautiful 6 day trek approaches Kilimanjaro from the south. Starting in the dense and tropical rainforest, taking in some of the mountains best features including the Shira Plateau, the Barranco Wall and the Karanga Valley before making the final ascent via Barafu. This is a tough but spectacularly rewarding route with stunning views.
They will be climbing with dedicated and experienced event organisers ACTION CHALLENGE http://www.actionchallenge.com
More information on the Trek and route can be found on page 3 of the following PDF document: http://www.actionchallenge.com/news/climb_kilimanjaro_2011_full_brochure__booking_form.pdf
