Today I recieved a beautiful portrait in the post of my son, Rifleman William Aldridge, from a disabled artist named Gordon Farmer, who lives in Pontyrhyl, Bridgend.
70 year old Gordon suffers from a deteriorating eyesight impairment called Diplopia, which causes a delay in his vision, making the accuracy of his artwork quite remarkable.
He has created a stunning likeness in his pencil drawing of William.
Mr. Farmer has expertly drawn several portraits for families of fallen soldiers and I feel personally honoured that he chose William as one of his subjects.
He asks for no payment or recognition, just that the families enjoy the potraits he feels compelled to draw out of respect for our Armed Forces and their families.
