TOPIC: EQUALITY FOR PARENTS OF THE FALLEN
    #104
EQUALITY FOR PARENTS OF THE FALLEN 12 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 12
EQUALITY FOR PARENTS OF THE FALLEN is a camapaign that was launched by a wonderful and dedicated mother, Mrs. Carol Jones, who lost her son, Sgt. John Jones, 31 during the Iraq war in 2005.

Carol's son, much like approx 50% of our Armed Forces was married, so the Elizabeth Cross was duely presented to her daughter-in-law. All correspondence and 'Official' invitations are also directed in this manner to John's next of kin, his wife.
This often means Carol and husband Ray, like many other parents, whose Military offspring are married, regularly get omitted from invitations to attend memorial or dedication services for their children. This can be upsetting, and on occasion, cause anguish between bereaved parents and partners.

Carol is joined by other families in her campaign to seek equal recognition for the parents of married Service Personnel. Their quest is simply to be recognised for the sacrifice they have also made by losing a loved one in conflict.

Please take the time to join the (social networking site) Group Carol has set up and sign the petition in support of gaining parity for these bereaved parents.

Carol is no stranger to campaigning. She also successfully championed the campaign to bring the 'Basra Memorial Wall' back to the UK and have it rededicated in its' new home at The national Memorial Arboretum, Arlewas, Staffordshire.
